"Love and justice are not two. Without inner change, there can be no outer change; without collective change, no change matters." ~ angel Kyodo williams
Emma Lui (she/her) has always been passionate about food, nutrition and health. These passions form the basis of her becoming a Holistic Health Practitioner. She offers Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, holistic nutrition and ThetaHealing®. She is also the Holistic Health Director for the Canadian Women of Colour Leadership Network.
Her belief that food is medicine is rooted in her Southern Chinese culture. As a child, her mom would often make traditional soups, teas or dishes to support illnesses or imbalances. Holistic nutrition played a huge role in addressing Emma's food sensitivities, burnout and overall health.
She graduated from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. She is a member of the CSNN Alumni Association and the Canadian Association of Holistic Nutrition Professionals.
In her own process of healing from food sensitivities, burnout and (intergenerational) trauma, she found Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy and ThetaHealing® to be deeply restorative and healing. So she decided to complete training for Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (Level 1 & 2 and a two year training with Body Intelligence) and ThetaHealing® (Basic and Advanced).
She loves using these modalities to support others in their healing process. As an empath, these come naturally to her as she has always been attuned to other people’s emotions and well-being.
Emma is also a writer and water and social justice activist. She has been a water activist for more than a decade and is passionate about water because of its beauty, power and ability to nourish, heal and sustain life. She has been supporting grassroots communities to promote water justice, Indigenous rights and other social justice issues for more than a decade. In her spare time, she hikes, cooks, swims, gardens and reads.
She practices in Ottawa and in Wakefield, which are on Algonquin Anishinaabe traditional territory.
Wellness Philosophy
Our bodies know how to heal themselves. It is based on this belief that Emma offers Holistic Nutrition, ThetaHealing® and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy and supports clients to connect to their bodies’ natural healing ability. She provides compassionate and restorative care that gets to the root of clients’ symptoms and conditions.
She sees personal health as deeply connected to community and environmental health as well as to our social and political environments. She provides care with an awareness of the crises we face today including climate, food and water crises, racism, gender inequity, discrimination and income inequality, and how they all can impact our well-being. The consumerist, capitalist economic system is not only wearing on our planet, but also wearing on our health and communities.
She provides care with an understanding of how trauma, including intergenerational, historical and collective trauma, and how systemic and institutional violence and oppression impact individual and community health.
Emma also believes that health is a human right and offers sliding scale fees for people with low incomes. You can contact her to discuss fee options if you are on a low income.
In her practice, Emma celebrates the diversity of humans in size, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation and abilities.
