I recently became a member of TRACC (Trauma Response and Crisis Care) For Movements' Healer Network which provides crisis care, trauma response and emotional support on the frontlines of social movements. "TRACC (Trauma Response and Crisis Care) for Movements is a project responding to trauma in social movements: providing community care, triage trauma and crisis response on the frontlines, & healer training and education to support activists and social movements. We believe that we are in a sociopolitical moment which multiplies the impact of trauma and burnout for activists and community organizers." I can provide in-person support in the Ottawa-Outaouais area, also known as unceded, unsurrendered Algonquin Territory. If you need support in other areas, I can find out if there is anyone where you are in this network. If not, I may be able to do virtual support. For more, click 'Read More' below. "TRACC (Trauma Response and Crisis Care) for Movements engages in our work in BIPOC/QTPOC-centering framework through our practices, our training content and our leadership. We are deeply invested in complicating the pre-existing narratives around mental health, wellness, and approaches to healing eminating from dominant Western contexts to engage decolonizing and anti-oppressive holistic approaches to healing."
If you are an organizer, campaigner and/or activist organizing an action, protest or event and want trauma or emotional support there (including in the future when more COVID restrictions are lifted) send me a message! We need to build this kind of support and healing right into our activism.
